New party

Amcha Yisrael ("The People of Israel") is a right-wing party. Former IDF brigadier general Ofer Winter founded it on August 25, 2026.

Amcha Yisrael will join a government only if a law drafting Haredim, with no exceptions, is passed first. It also wants to reform how judges are appointed and to change the "reasonableness" standard.

Winter has turned down offers to merge with other right-wing parties.

The party's ideology

Before you vote

What you need to know about this party’s positions before voting

Voting for Amcha Yisrael means voting for a newly created party (25 August 2026), never tested electorally and never in government, whose polling results fluctuate around the electoral threshold. Winter has chosen to remain on his own rather than merge with other right-wing lists, a gamble that could just as easily validate his strategy as weaken it if the polls tighten.

On security and territory

  • It advocates a preventive rather than defensive doctrine, acting before enemies strengthen their capabilities.
  • It categorically rejects any Palestinian state.
  • It explicitly promotes the “voluntary emigration” of Gaza's residents, without stating a diplomatic alternative for managing the international consequences.

On Haredi conscription

  • Winter has set a concrete coalition condition: he stated that he would not enter any government that had not secured the passage, even before its formation, of a law ending the exemption from service and requiring everyone to report and contribute.
  • He attacked Yitzchak Goldknopf (leader of Agudat Yisrael, a component of UTJ) by name, who calls for a total exemption for yeshiva students, accusing him of “deceiving the public” and asserting that not everyone who wears black and white studies the Torah.
  • This red line concerns the timing of the law's passage rather than an exclusion of Haredi parties on principle: several reports indicate that Winter would remain open to a coalition including these parties once the law is passed.

On the judiciary

  • The party aligns itself with the camp supporting the 2023 judicial reform without setting any stated limit on that support.
  • It seeks judicial appointments deemed more “representative of the public will”.
  • It proposes removing lawyers' representatives from the judicial appointments committee.
  • It wants to narrow the “reasonableness” standard that allows the Supreme Court to overturn government decisions, without stating any counterbalancing institutional safeguard.

On military command

  • Winter has publicly rejected any notion of Jewish exclusivity in IDF command, citing his personal command of Druze, Bedouin and Christian officers in combat.
  • He has placed Christian Arab activist Yoseph Haddad in the number 2 position on his list.
  • This professed inclusivity in command coexists with an otherwise very hard line on the Palestinians and the territories.
