Before you vote

What you need to know about this party’s positions before voting

Voting for Otzma Yehudit means, first and foremost, choosing the hardest security line on the political landscape.

On security

  • Expanded targeted strikes in Gaza every night, occupation and resettlement of the territory, war against Iran presented as an «absolute necessity».
  • Ben Gvir accepts a risk of government instability: he already withdrew his party from the coalition in January 2025 to protest a Gaza ceasefire deemed too conciliatory, before it was readmitted two months later.

On territorial issues

  • A vote for Otzma Yehudit means the complete rejection of any prospect of a Palestinian state and support for the «immediate» annexation of the West Bank.
  • This line isolates Israel on the international stage: Ben Gvir himself is subject to entry bans in at least ten Western countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, without this altering his rhetoric.

On judicial issues

  • The party makes its participation in a future coalition conditional on the adoption of a comprehensive judicial reform creating a «constitutional court» above the Supreme Court — a line directly opposed to defenders of current judicial independence.
  • Regarding 7 October, Ben Gvir preferred to sit on an internal government committee rather than support a fully independent state commission of inquiry, a choice contested by some members of the public and victims' families.

On social and religious issues

  • The party stands out for a more conciliatory line than its general image would suggest: rather than immediate coercion of yeshiva students, Otzma Yehudit favors dedicated, incentive-based service tracks.
  • On this specific point, this position brings it closer to the Haredi parties than to the secular parties within its own security-oriented political camp.

On political issues

  • Ben Gvir's record in government is concrete: Minister of National Security since December 2022, he championed and secured the passage of the law introducing the death penalty for perpetrators of deadly terrorist attacks (March 2026).
  • However, the deterrent effect he has claimed since then rests on his own word and has not been independently verified.
